Baby Gear:Be Selective

Baby Gear:Be Selective

A new born baby means everything for its parents.Shopping something for babies can be fun.But at the same time it can be a daunting task because advertisers can easily fool you since you will always look for the best products for your baby. There are many big brands that offer baby products. However new parents need to understand that the products these brands are offering might not be safe for the baby.Make sure that your investment is worth. As parents it is natural for you to want your baby’s life to be as safe and comfortable as possible. You will feel tempted to buy everything. But a new born baby doesn’t need all the things you wish to buy.Make a list of the essential items first. This will help you to avoid impulsive buying.

Here are a few suggestions that can help you to buy the right baby product.Whatever baby gear you choose make sure it is safe for the baby. Many baby items look beautiful but they are not safe for the baby.So don’t go by the beauty.Instead you should concentrate on your baby’s security.

Baby car seat is one of the most essential baby gears. You can’t miss out buying a baby car seat.It is true that you don’t want your baby to be out in a car often.Still it is important to have a baby car seat so that whenever you take the little one out he/she can be comfortable. In fact many of the hospitals will not discharge the infant until they find a baby car seat in your car.If you don’t have one they can temporarily provide you with a seat. However for long run it is better to have your own baby car seat.

These days we all have so many works to do and so many deadlines to meet.At the same time you need to take car of your baby. You can’t leave your baby alone. So the best way to carry your baby is to have a baby pouch.A front pack or back pack baby carrier can help you to take your baby wherever you go.A front pack carrier is more preferable as you can keep a check on the baby all the time. Besides the baby remains close to you and can feel the warmth.

However a baby pouch can be difficult to carry after a while. Here comes in the role of baby strollers.A stroller can help you to take your baby anywhere with you.Check the safety features before buying a stroller. The brake should function properly.Buy a stroller that has an adjustable hood. This is necessary to safeguard your baby from the harmful sun rays.

Baby clothes are very useful.Try to go for clothes made of cotton.Various fancy dresses are available in the market but don’t buy these dresses because they are very uncomfortable for the baby.Similarly choose soft toys because other toys might have sharp edge which is dangerous for your baby.

When you buy baby gear make sure that they are essential and useful and you are investing at the right place.

I'd hang on to the items. Baby items dont go out of style that quick. Just make sure all the toys and crib, high chair still meet the safety standards.

All that can be very expensive to buy. And with prices going up on everything, you can save alot of money if you keep it till you know for sure.

Im going to hang on to all of my sons stuff. I will part with some outfits.. and maybe some toys… but im going to keep the majority of it… till i know i dont want anymore kids.

    Best of luck

One Step Ahead is definitely a great one for baby gear. They have some really neat stuff that you can't find other places. I think you will find that if you get on the mailing list for one of the catalogs, you will get several others that are similar.

The ABC catalog has some toys in it pretty cheap and sometimes they are older, wooden style toys.

As for clothes, a great website is BabyThreads Resale. They have new and used clothes at great prices!

like the other person said, i bought a monitor thinking id need one, but monitor or no monitor, i can hear that kid crying from a mile away! this ones kind of small, but the nose bulb, my son cries bloody murder when i use it on him, so that had to go. my sling, never got baby to fit in a comfortable position, that also had to go…and my pack and play was a huge waste of money. so far. but hes only 3 months so maybe hell use it eventually

I'd say get a travel system stroller/car seat set that way you have everything you need through toddler age.

As for a highchair, they make some that fold down to a very slim size, but I think folding and unfolding it every time would be a pain. They make the kind that strap into a normal dining room chair and they're smaller. Also, if you don't want to get a highchair right away you can just feed the baby in the car seat until he's too big for it.

If he's not going to sleep in your bed, I would opt for a pack n play sleep system. They're much smaller (and cheaper) than cribs and can double as a play pen and travel bed. Some even have a built in fold away changing table. Very handy.

As far as a changing table goes, you could just use the top of a dresser you already have in your home.

That's really all you NEED. If you want a swing, choose a table top travel swing so its small enough to put into the closet when you're not using it. If you're interested in a place to store the baby's clothes separate from your own dresser, get one of those hanging sweater shelves that hang in your closet. The slots are definitely big enough for baby's clothes and blankets and they run fairly cheap at target. Good luck!

A Baby Bjorn. Don't accept any imitations, they're the best. I didn't have one with my first child and I wished so badly that I did that for my second child (due in a couple weeks) I told my husband it was the one thing I wanted for this baby. I bought it months ago and it's sitting in the closet waiting for this baby to come.

And if your wife is planning to breastfeed, freezer storage bags for breastmilk are a MUST if she ever wants to get away (and it's healthy to), or if she gets sick. Have her stock the freezer and you'll always have it as a security. If you want to take your wife on a date and leave baby with the sitter, or if your wife gets sick and her milk supply drops, you have the comfort of knowing your baby is still getting the best nutrition possible. Of course, having freezer bags first requires a good breast pump.

I can just imagine that kid when he’s older.
“Hey babe, i’m indestuctable. I was ran over my a train and yeah, I’m still here..”

Okay. Either that or he’ll be terrified of trains. Depends on the personality.

..Why’s everyone arguing? There’s no point, Can’t we just be happy for the Mom whether you believe in God or not? ^^’

I have a second hand one so it was free *lol*. My son loved it until he outgrew it. Even now it is in front of his crib and sometimes the lights and music put him to sleep.

Considering the hard use mine went through and still works perfectly and looks new, I would say that half the retail value would be fair, though I would try to pay less ;-) (BTW The fabric is VERY easy to clean! It slips right off!)

Also you might want to buy some rechargeable D batteries as all the kids toys seem to take that size.
