You ever wish someone you know would have a baby just so you could buy baby gifts?I love buying baby gifts and going to baby showers! I have 2 kids and am not ready for a 3rd yet, but sometimes wish there was a new baby in the family or friends just so we could throw a baby shower.

Of course diapers, washcloths bibs. Wipes. Also why not put something in there just for mommy after her child is born. Maybe hide a gift certificate for a good spa place. Or a watch the baby coupon. Also get some diaper rash ointment. the best even though the name is funny is buttpaste. they have it at all grocery stores and anywhere that baby items are sold. If you think they will notice if the gift is not in your home, then keep it and put it out when you know they are coming over. After they leave, tuck it in the closet. If you know they will never know, then donate it to charity. I donated like 2-3 shopping bags of gifts before I had my daughter and regifted a few others!

In my situation, my friend who was in part helping plan the baby shower took me. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't have had a shower in the first place, and she had been involved in them before (for other people) and I hadn't, so she kinda knew all about what to register for and how everything works, etc. Trust me, the father would have been no help whatsoever, and I know I would have regretted it! lol

One of those little silver boxes to keep lost teeth for the tooth fairy (often found with a fairy on the lid!). Every child only ever has one. Its a keepsake for life, but also something that actually gets used for a few years instead of just put away in a drawer.

If you don't have the money, don't spend it. Your friend knows if you can afford it or not. If you can, get her something she needs, rather than the baby. Sometimes Moms get left out and with their emotional roller coaster after giving birth, it is a real nice gesture to take mom or mom & dad something. A bottle of wine they like, a meal you prepared that all they need to do is pop in the oven, those would mean a lot to them. Since you already got the baby something, there is no real need to get it something else unless you just really want to.

Or even the white plastic ones with a big pink or blue bow on them or one of each if she doesn't know what she's having. (She's about to be doing a LOT more laundry!!!)
Or if $$$'s not an issue maybe a bassinet? (maybe a used one if you have a gently used baby items store in your area.)
Or a toy box? She'll probably be needing one of those soon too (although the wicker basket works good for that too if you want to keep some toys in your family room or something.)
