Buying A Baby Stroller? Is So You Need To Read This

A baby is a wonderful addition to a family. However it also comes with some logistical problems, just ask any new parent. Try getting out and about with a new baby and you’ll find it isn’t qutie as simple as it used to be. You need a baby stroller.

But the good news is that now baby strollers are very good. All you had to choose from years ago was a heavy and difficult to use steel pram. Try getting a heavy bulky steel pram in the car, but modern baby strollers are excellent. And baby friendly.

But a modern baby stroller can be folded up easily and put into the car with minimal problems. And taken out and reassembled too. And a good stroller should have good storage for all of mums gear or shopping as well.

Modern strollers are mother friendly and baby friendly. They will have comfortable seats which should recline so that baby can sleep or sit up and look around, and for a growing baby they should also have adjustable footrests. And they must have a solid 5 point adjustable harness that keeps baby secured in the seat at any age. Babies trying to stand up in a pram have been the cause of accidents in the past.

And it’s essential to have a good brake, as modern strollers do. The brake should hold the stroller fully loaded on a significant hill, though you should not stop on a hill unless necessary, and when on a hill stop with the stroller across the hill for maximum safety. And the brake should operate on all wheels with a foot operated action.

And surprisingly, a good baby stroller isn’t as expensive as you would imagine, if you know where to buy. As a new parent you have many expenses, and you don’t need to be spending big on some things. I have just been looking at some excellent brand new cheap triple strollers, for those lucky parents with 3 babies. At around $200 it’s great value and it’s cheap convenience.

So remember, if you have a baby, a stroller is very cheap convenience for you and comfort for baby. It’s way easier to get around using a stroller than it is without. Cheap convenience and comfort.

Help answer the question about baby strollers

Are there any laws and regulation for baby strollers and cots in Australia?
I'm migrating to Australia in Jan with a 6 months old baby. I can buy a stroller and a cot from where I'm living right now (sri lanka) at a cheaper price. However I'm wondering those available in sri lanka are allowed to use in Ausi.
Or need to know what are the criteria that I must consider when buying a cot or a stroller that is to be used in Ausi

Thanks

Rasika

You know what? You do not need a stroller just yet.

Newborns do not, I think, belong in strollers. It always makes me a bit sad to see a tiny baby, who'd much rather be in somebody's arms, tucked inside a car seat, inside a massive stroller…

My daughter is almost three months old, and we don't have any interest in using one, yet. Her father carries her in his arms, or I carry her.

We have a Baby Bjorn front-pack carrier, a mei tai carrier, a sling, and a "Bill Amberg Papoose" carrier.

Blow the money on a carrier for now. Your baby will be so much happier!

Just let her know what you need and that you were concerned about getting things set-up early, just-in-case, so you got some things while they were on sale.

    Hello fellow Canadian…

My only thought is that when you leave the hospital (at least in Victoria, BC), you have to bring the infant carrier in and they check it out and make sure the strap are adjusted correctly… I think they actually look for the model number and compare it to something… so you might get caught there?

You could always borrow a Canadian infant carrier from a friend, just to leave the hospital? I would go ahead with the American one.

Someone needs to report this channel to Youtube because they have 1 million videos, 3/4 of them average less than 90 viewers per video(several having under 20 views each). I’ve only scanned through 415 pages of their videos and when I came across this one I noticed the date said October 23, 2008, and today is November 13, 2008. I think it’s pretty sad for someone to shoot and direct 20-25 videos daily and be constantly uploading them to Youtube almost 24/7.

Racists like you shouldn’t be commenting if all you’re going to do is hate.

i found that side by side strollers are easier to maneuver.. like the mclaren or chicco version, also graco made a new twin stroller that is side by side, tandem strollers are so hard to steer and they are big and bulky.. maybe a combi side by side will accept a car seat?

    EDIT:
i was not aware, but graco made a newer tandem stroller http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=7976535

it looks easier to steer than the duoglider, don't buy the duoglider!

Your list is pretty good — I'm made notes here and there to it:

crib – Don't go crazy price-wise; by 10 months, our son had turned his beautiful crib into a large chewtoy. Don't make the same mistake. ;-)
mattress – Really, you only need 1.
    2 fitted sheets
ample newborn diapers – Go easy on this; you won't know what size your baby will be until s/he's born. Also, the hospital will give you plenty to take home with you.
ample formula if I decide to formula feed – Again, go easy. Some baby's tummys work better with one formula than another. Also, again, the hospital will give you formula to help you pick the one that's most compatable with your baby.
bottles (how many do you think?) – Go with about 6 – 9.
    3 receiving blankets
    dresser
    carseat
    carrier-sling
    diaper bag
    stroller
a few onesies, maybe some hats and socks

    I'd add:

    - Pack-n-Play with a changing table on top – that's proved to be priceless for us.
    - Cloth diapers to be used as spit rags.
    - Bouncer – Our son loved his bouncer and couldn't have cared less about the swing. It may come down to your baby's preferences.

From a practical point of view, that pretty pink stroller will get dirty quickly if you're going to be taking the baby on a lot of outings. I have three kids, the oldest is 18 (wow!). My collapsible navy blue Chicco stroller held up from kid#1 to kid#3. The navy doesn't show the dirt as much. I'm sure your baby will spill formula, or food or have a diaper leak eventually in that pink stroller. I'm fairly certain that it'll be hard to keep clean.

It just wouldn't be my first choice (and I have a daughter!).

Think of all the awesome outfits you can buy for your daughter with that money. Better yet, you'll probably be getting a lot of baby clothes as presents so you can bank that money for her..even better!

At week 39, you're right down to the wire and I'm sure your emotions have a lot to do with the pink stroller obsession. It's very cute actually…I'm not trying to sound patronizing!

I hope this helped. Lots of luck to you!!!

I was wrong about the over 1 million videos, but they have over 130,000 videos and they upload 20 or more a day and they’ve been on Youtube since April 2006. I thought only private Youtubers uploaded multiple videos daily.

get play dough, and sit down and model easy things with her.
go to the playground, walk around in the park, collect color full leaves and acorns, and clue em on a piece of paper.get finger paint and let her paint a window,(it s easy to wash off)
get together with other kids.play dress up.and limit tv and video games to 1 hour a day.they dont really need it.a puzzle and real easy bord games have the same effect.they can learn colors and shapes with that also.doesnt have to be v tech

The reason it is not recommended for jogging is it has a swivel wheel and not a fixed wheel. The fixed wheel is a safety feature in case you run over a rock or something so that the stroller doesn't veer off the road at a fast pace. Also, it doesn't look like it has a wrist strap which is for safety too so that you can keep control of the stroller at fast speeds. I think you will be just fine using this stroller though. Unless you are running (fast) for miles and miles each day it is not necessary to have a fixed wheel. Light jogging or power walking on a sidewalk or paved road would be appropriate use for this stroller.
