Top Five Gifts for Baby Boomers
BoomerYearbook.com – December, 2008 – Getting gifts for Baby Boomers can be quite easy, after all – we know what we want. These gifts may be familiar or common. Some may be extravagantly luxurious; others are simple, and some just border on the lavishly insane. But the reality is many boomers are successful, educated and self – aware. We know what we want and what we like, and thus the taste of the Boomer Generation is quite unique.

For starters, how about a trip to some luxurious vacation place, complete with a well planned itinerary that covers everything from what to do, what to see, where to visit, eat, travel arrangements, car service and the like. Many Baby Boomers have lots of time on their hands in the present (or near future), and what better way is there to spend it than traveling and flying first class, when all one has to worry about is what to wear.
Retirement is a central issue for Baby Boomers. Some of us are already retired, and others of us couldn’t imagine our lives without our working worlds. But in either case, retirement is on the front burner of any boomers life plan. With that in mind, one of the best gifts for a Baby Boomer is the chance to do what we really want to do, and to do it now. That dream may be taking up photography, designing jewelry, taking up a new sport, opening a coffee shop – the things we have put on hold when we were working and raising our children. Items that could help us pursue our dreams and activities are great gift options. For instance, a good digital camera for the budding photographer, sports equipment for the new sport and the list goes on.

Health is also one of the concerns of Baby Boomers, and in the quest for health, fitness gift certificates and memberships to spas, yoga, or aerobics classes are great gifts. Getting a personal trainer would be over the top – but really spectacular if it is someone you truly want to impress and can afford to do so. Other items such as home spa and relaxation kits or fitness and exercise clothing are also gifts well worth considering.
Aside from fitness, Baby Boomers want to be and stay beautiful; for our significant others, for the people we work with, socialize with, may be interested in dating, and most importantly, for the reflection we see in our mirrors. And don’t think we are just talking about women. Today’s male baby boomer has his own special rituals and beauty regimens. Depending on the receiver’s preference and personal values, a gift can include a trip to the dermatologist for facials or skin whitening/clarifying or non-surgical anti-aging treatments such as Botox, or Collagen fillers, or a life-changing plastic surgery procedure, or even just to a beauty or facial center for foot spas and some hair removal.
And lastly, a good boomer gift is anything that has to do with home improvement. When Baby Boomers spend time at home, they want it to be relaxing. So whether it’s buying that new LCD TV, (or the universal remote for the LCD based on the giver’s budget) or that new accessory to give the right panache-a great boomer gift matches the comfort and style of its recipient.

yes, lol. I just had a baby 5 months ago. You can send me a gift:):)
There is a great web site giggle.com that has really nice, environmentally friendly stuff.
Try BabyCenter.com, Redenvelope.com, or potterybarnkids.com
Happy shopping, you're friend is lucky to have such a generous friend in you!!
In my situation, my friend who was in part helping plan the baby shower took me. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't have had a shower in the first place, and she had been involved in them before (for other people) and I hadn't, so she kinda knew all about what to register for and how everything works, etc. Trust me, the father would have been no help whatsoever, and I know I would have regretted it! lol
If you don't have the money, don't spend it. Your friend knows if you can afford it or not. If you can, get her something she needs, rather than the baby. Sometimes Moms get left out and with their emotional roller coaster after giving birth, it is a real nice gesture to take mom or mom & dad something. A bottle of wine they like, a meal you prepared that all they need to do is pop in the oven, those would mean a lot to them. Since you already got the baby something, there is no real need to get it something else unless you just really want to.
Good luck and enjoy the new baby and your friends, Rail
If you think they will notice if the gift is not in your home, then keep it and put it out when you know they are coming over. After they leave, tuck it in the closet. If you know they will never know, then donate it to charity. I donated like 2-3 shopping bags of gifts before I had my daughter and regifted a few others!
It's good to send a thank you card to everyone who sends in a gift.
I think that's more important than setting a cut off date.
Congratulations, by the way, on your baby!
(Sorry if I"m a bit late! lol)
One of those little silver boxes to keep lost teeth for the tooth fairy (often found with a fairy on the lid!). Every child only ever has one. Its a keepsake for life, but also something that actually gets used for a few years instead of just put away in a drawer.
This link is for a UK site, but to give you an idea…. http://www.baby-gifts.co.uk/sterling_silver_toothfairy_box.htm
Wicker laundry basket?
Or even the white plastic ones with a big pink or blue bow on them or one of each if she doesn't know what she's having. (She's about to be doing a LOT more laundry!!!)
Or if $$$'s not an issue maybe a bassinet? (maybe a used one if you have a gently used baby items store in your area.)
Or a toy box? She'll probably be needing one of those soon too (although the wicker basket works good for that too if you want to keep some toys in your family room or something.)
Good luck!
