Ada Requirements: Baby Changing Stations and Child Safety Seats

ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) has framed some requirements for baby changing stations that should be satisfied by every baby changing station manufacturer. Before buying a baby changing station for your babies or using these in public places you should be aware of these requirements that meet the standards of ADA.

The specifications in these ADA guidelines are based upon adult dimensions and anthropometrics. These guidelines also contain alternate specifications based on children’s dimensions and anthropometrics for drinking fountains, water closets, toilet stalls, lavatories, sinks, and fixed or built-in seating and tables.

Listed below are the standards for baby changing stations.

A. Units should be constructed from high-density polyethylene, which prohibits the retention of moisture and odors.

B. Units should contain reinforced steel rods increase unit stability (Baby changing stations)

C. Gas shocks should be completely hidden for safer bed retraction preventing injuries to hands and fingers (Baby changing stations)

D. Products should be suitable for processing by any approved recycling facility.

E. Provide units with the necessary hardware to install on most wall types.

F. Units should be provided with a self-adhesive sign for installation on restroom door.

G. Units should be provided with a mounting template with instructions written in English and Spanish.

H. Provide a unit with numerous color choices to accent building’s internal décor.

So if you are opting to buy an Oval Baby Changing Station, Horizontal Baby Changing Station or a Vertical Baby Changing Station check if the units are manufactured by certified manufacturers and the products satisfy full requirements of ADA.

Help answer the question about baby

How many baby showers is it appropriate to have for the same baby?
My sister-in-law is having her first baby. My mother-in-law threw her a baby shower 2 days ago and invited the entire family. It was a large shower. Today in the mail I received an invitation for another baby shower for her that is being thrown by a close friend who was in attendance at the first shower. I already bought a gift for the first shower. Do I have to get her another gift or even attend the 2nd shower?

Every baby is different, if he is wanting it then you can give it to him, if your worried about how much he eats because u know of other babies that eat less don't be, babies will tell you how much and when they want it, remember he is growning fast, so he will decide how much he needs!

As soon as my little one was eating the 2 stage foods…I gave her the Gerber beef and what not. I don't think there is anything wrong with giving it to her now.

Gerber makes it in 2nd stage foods for a reason…if it wasn't good for them…why would they make it for that stage? I trust Gerber for the most part.

My daughter volunteers at a local reptile rescue center and one of the first things she learned was it's never a good idea to feed a pet reptile any live prey from outside. You don't know what they have been exposed to…chemicals, parasites, etc…

I think you need to understand the difference between offering tips and advice and demanding they be accepted and implemented.
As with any new thing we do in life those that have experience offer advice. However these bits of information come from many people (all with good intentions) and it is up to the person doing the learning to decide what is important to them.

Keep up the good work Grandma but let the new parents decide.

I can't keep anything on the ground. I mean, seriously, I feel like I have a puppy… Anything left on the ground, she will get to and destroy.

For instance, she's colored the walls with lipstick, colored the leather sofas with white deodorant, put a number of things in the toilet, and she just tries to eat anything and everything… She also recently broke our TV remote, which was her favorite "toy"… haha

So, mostly I've just had to pile everything on the table and TV, etc. She's not even walking yet (10 months), so it'll be exciting once that happens.

    What’s so funny about this?

  16. Comment by Mazie

    No, you do not.

If people have more than one shower for the same baby it's generally because two totally different groups host one(i.e. one for family and another for coworkers). They shouldn't be inviting the same people over and over!

Medical expenses out of pocket, all the other stuff is not deductible

Medical Expenses are Itemized Deductions, they must exceed 7.5% of your Adjusted Gross Income.

Your total Itemized deductions must exceed the Standard Deduction amount of $10,300.00 to be beneficial to itemize

You can't really tell until it is older, in about a week. When that happens, the sparrow should be getting darker colors and a few streaks of gray on its head. The finch, (depending one what kind) will get some feathers of brown and other streaks of color.
